I am an open-source advocate with many years experience working with hardware and software technology. I leverage a wide variety of knowledge, excellent communication & collaboration skills, and project management experience. I am interested in a position in a Linux or mixed environment where I can utilize my skills to improve business processes with computer automation.
I am good at working with people to understand current business practices and how things could be improved with the use of new software/database systems, and working either alone or with a team to implement new or improved systems with an eye on maintainability.
I learn new languages and environments quickly, but currently I am strongest in PHP, Perl, Python, SQL (MySQL/MSSQL), and C. I have written text based TCP/IP client/server applications, web database applications, and I have done a small amount of windows GUI programming (C++/Access/VB).
I have strong real world experience: I spent several years doing desktop support and platform validation for server hardware at Intel. I developed an infrastructure at Oregon State University for automated Residential Network signup, web based management, staff appointment scheduling, network security monitoring and bandwidth management. I am currently providing network and computing support for the University of Minnesota Physics and Astronomy department.
I am also interested in photography.
I have a portfolio available where you can see samples of some of my web based work for Oregon State University.
Please make sure you have the latest version of my resume.
